The Victoria’s Secret Diet:

Despite my attempts to find their secret diet regimen I couldn’t, these angels actually follow a fairly healthy routine:

According to Adriana Lima’s diet and fitness coach, he recommends eating a balanced diet filled with lean proteins and an abundance of fruits and veggies. The majority of the models eat a balanced breakfast consisting of egg whites, whole wheat toast, and a piece of fresh fruit. On the occasion he encourages having a breakfast smoothie packed with fruits and soy protein (the smoothie”recipe of the day” is listed on the right side bar of this page!). He encourages snacking every three hours throughout the day and insists on a light dinner that contains a lean protein such as fish or grilled chicken.

Staying hydrated is his number one rule. Indulging your body with water and herbal tea is said to have glowing side affects; shiny hair, clear skin, and a more awake radiance. Your body functions better when it is running at optimum, that means keeping it filled with the proper nutrients. Eating every three hours ensures the growth of healthy bacteria in the intestine which aids in the absorption of vitamins and nutrients. In order to metabolize food, your body needs food.

Each model has been said to follow a variety of diet plans, including the “South Beach Diet, The Portion Control Diet, and the “New York Body Plan Diet.” However, all of these diets consist of the same principals- a balanced diet that consists of whole foods and minimizes processed foods. You can call it what you want, but these “diets” are actually nutritiously balanced and encourage the recommended serving sizes as well as a healthy range of caloric intake.

Along with eating a healthy diet plan, these angels workout about five times a week. Hitting the gym 3-5 times a week is recommended for everyone. Doing a 30 minute cardio session increases academic performance, lowers risk for heart disease, lowers blood pressure, improves brain function, and over all betters health and a higher quality of life. Healthy lifestyle habits include participating in a lifetime physical activity program (Adriana likes boxing!), not smoking cigarettes, eating right, avoiding over snacking, maintaining a recommended body weight, getting enough rest, lowering your stress levels (meditating), being wary of alcohol, and surrounding yourself with healthy relationships. (Hoeger).

So, in the end I guess there is no secret. Being healthy and achieving weight loss is as simple as making the right food choices and adopting a healthier, more balanced regimen.
